As NHS waiting time woes show no sign of lessening, more and more people are investigating alternative ways of receiving the treatment they need.
A new website called Hospitalsconsultants could be the answer. The site features 30 English hospitals and a number of French clinics offering a wide selection of medical procedures. The service is open to anyone, whether they have private medical insurance or not. All you need to do is enter the procedure you need, your age and your patient status (NHS patient, self-pay patient etc), and you’ll be given suggestions of suitable hospitals. All costs are paid to the hospital, with only a ‘contact’ fee being charged by the website. This ensures that the service offered by Hospitalsconsultants remains entirely independent of any medical establishment. The geographic spread of hospitals featured on the site is impressive, going from Cornwall in the southwest (click on the logo below for more details), to the northeast
in the shape of the Sunderland Eye Infirmary (http://www.hospitalsconsultants.uk/hospital/sunderland-eye-infirmary-hopital-municipal-sunderland/). Procedures available through the site include carpal tunnel surgery, hip replacement, knee surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, femoral hernia, varicose veins treatment and cataract surgery.
